NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF SECURITIES DEALER (NASD) NOW FINRA

The National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) was the self-regulatory organization (SRO) that regulated the securities industry in the United States from 1939 to 2007. In 2007, the NASD merged with the New York Stock Exchange's (NYSE) regulatory, enforcement, and arbitration divisions to form the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). FINRA is now the largest non-governmental regulatory organization for securities brokers and dealers doing business in the United States.
